From Michigan State University Extension (MSUE):
MSU Extension is hosting their annual Hops Field Day and Tour on Friday, July 29, 2016 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Participants will meet at the MSU Horticultural Research Center (6686 South Center Highway, Traverse City, MI 49684), board a chartered bus and travel to various hop yards in the area, visit a local brewing company for lunch, and additional hop yards in the afternoon. Throughout the tour hop growers will be on site to discuss all aspects of hop production and growing practices. The group will then return to the Research Center for a WOLF picking machine demonstration and an educational beer tasting led by Executive Director, Scott Graham, of the Michigan Brewers Guild, along with some Michigan brewers. Specific tour locations and other details are still being finalized, but the date is a go to get it on your calendars!
The cost is yet to be determined as well, but will include lunch, charter bus transportation and education/handouts. Pre-registration is required by debit/credit card and space is limited. Due to the popularity of this event, payment is due at the time of online registration. Because of liability issues and space, participants will NOT be allowed to drive their personal vehicle on this tour.
Look for registration information on the website hops.msu.edu in the next couple of weeks.
