Reminder – July 20 Hops Sprayer Optimization Workshop

Achieving good coverage on a rapidly growing plant like hops can be a challenge, but poor coverage can dramatically reduce the effectiveness of pest control products, both conventional and organic.  Hop growers interested in improving their spray coverage are encouraged to register for the upcoming Hops Sprayer Optimization Workshop at Heritage Hill Hops, 1933 Line 2 N, Shanty Bay, Ontario to be held Wednesday, July 20 (rain date July 21) from 9 am to noon.

This in-field workshop is intended for anyone currently spraying, or considering spraying, hops.   Jason Deveau, OMAFRA Application Technology Specialist, and Melanie Filotas, OMAFRA Horticulture IPM Specialist, will talk about the importance of proper spray coverage, discuss what “good” spray coverage looks like in hops and show attendees how to calibrate a sprayer and adjust settings to match the height of the plants.

Anyone interested in attending is asked to register for this session by calling OMAFRA’s Agriculture Information Contact Centre at 1-877-424-1300 by next Friday, July 15.
